Design of a compliant mechanism for a sternum prosthesis using the pseudo-rigid-body model

Abstract When a sternum prosthesis is implemented, it must allow the movement of rib cage. The designs that have been developed are completely rigid, this aspect can present discomfort when breathing, as well fixation problems between and bone tissue. aim work to develop flexible device allows cage during breathing. Compliant mechanism design was by using pseudo-rigid body model (PRBM) starting from 4-bar rigid mechanism. obtained developing methodology replacement body. results show parameters compliant three-dimensional for subsequent numerical experimental analysis.
